Step 1
The two modules that you need in order to set up basic search are VenexusSeamus and VenexusSearch. Make sure you install Seamus first. Once Seamus is installed, go ahead and install Search.
Step 2
Create a new page for the Seamus module. Add the Seamus module to the new page.

Step 3
Configure the module settings for Seamus.

Go into module settings.

At the bottom left hand corner of the Module Settings page, you will see an option for Venexus Seamus Settings. Click the “+” symbol to expand the settings for Seamus. You will now see all of the settings for Seamus. Since we are just setting up a simple search, the only settings that we need to change are:
Items Per Feed

Type a number into this field for the number of items, that you would like to display, from the feed.
Update Index Every

Type a number into this field for how often, in hours, the index will be updated. It is recommended that this be set to 24.
Update DNN Files and External URLs every X days

Type a number into this field for how often, in days, DNN files and external URLs are updated. It is recommended that this be set to 30.
Enable Purging

Select this option. This will periodically purge data that is not needed within the index.
Purge Every X Hours

Type a number into this field for how often, in hours, purging will take place. It is recommended that this be set to 24.
When you are finished, make sure that you click Update or your changes will not be saved.

Step 4
Hide the Core DNN Search Results module.
If you do not know where the Search results page is, go to Admin --> Pages.
Click Pages and you will be directed to a list of all the pages on your site.

Select Search Results from the list. Then click on View Selected Page(the magnifying glass icon) under the Actions menu. You will be directed to the Search Results page.

Do not delete the Core DNN Search Results module, it needs to be set so that only administrators can see it.
Go into the module Settings for the Core DNN Search Results module.


De select Inherit View permissions from Page.

Once deselected, you should see that only admins have permission to see the module.

When you are finished, make sure that you click Update or your changes will not be saved.

Now the module should be visible by administrators only.

Step 5
Drop an instance of the Venexus Search module on the Search Results page. Go ahead and copy the URL to this Search Results page as you will be needing it momentarily.
Step 6
Create an new page for the Venexus Search module. Add the Venexus Search module to the new page.

Step 7
Configure the module settings for Venexus Search.

Go into the module settings.

At the bottom left hand corner of the Module Settings page, you will see an option for Venexus Search Settings. Click the “+” symbol to expand the settings for Search. You will now see all of the settings for Search. Since we are just setting up a simple search, the only settings that we need to change are:
Input Only Mode

Select this option. This will redirect Venexus Search to the DNN search results page, where the instance of this module, that you previously added, will display the results.
Enable Full Text Index based searches

Select this option only if you are using Full Text Indexing. If you are unsure, you can click on “Verify Full Text Is Enabled” and it will give you a message with the result.
Once selected, make sure you click “Recreate Full Text Stored Procedures”.
Search Results URL

Type or paste the URL for the Search Results page into this field.
When you are finished, make sure that you click Update or your changes will not be saved.

Some content should indexed by now, so go ahead and try to search for something.
