What if I add seamus to a muti portal installation, and on portal 1 I tell seamus to index website A, B and C, and on Portal 2, I tell seamus to index website C, D and E.

Would seamus index website C twice? Or is it smart enough to use the same index?

It will only index website C once. The queue and the index is "global", meaning everything should be unique by URL. The only case where there are redundant URLs is where there are multiple modules for the same page that get indexed. We store these seperately since the data is specific to each.
