When I search for something with two words, the search engine will show the two words with %20 between them after I search.

How can I avoid this?

Ok, when will that be.

Since now (after receiving $499 dollars) you tell me you sold me a not very functional search engine......
It will only do one-word searches

That is not true. It will perform two, thre, four word search all day long. See for yourself: http://imvivo.com
I cannot reproduce that on any of our sites, but I did make a change that should fix it. As I said it will be in the next release.

What is "not very functional"???? Does any other module do everything that we do? Find a better search module, I dare you.

Try and search for "kwaliteit van leven" using the default search engine:
http://www.palliatief.nl/Extra/Zoeken/tabid/1202/Default.aspx

and your search engine:
http://www.palliatief.nl/Extra/Zoeken/ZoekenTest/tabid/3927/Default.aspx

And see for yourself.

I am not saying that your module is bad or anything, just that when we pay you 499 dollars, we expect some quality...

And what exactly is the issue?
http://www.palliatief.nl/default.aspx?tabid=3927&search=kwaliteit%20van%20leven

I see results. While there may not be as many as the DNN example, I seriously doubt everything has completed indexing. Go into Seamus > ControlPanel and you should see at the top how many are left in the queue. You can also "Manage Queue" and see individual urls waiting to be crawled. Let's compare results when they are finished indexing.

We do not try to index every single thing in the site at one time, unlike DNN search does. For very large sites, DNN search would choke with out of memory errors because it was trying to index a DNN site with 100,000 pages all at once. Lucene, which is what the only other dnn search module competitor is using, reindexes every single item each time it does a reindexing. Our module is smart and does it based off of a queue process with minimal load on the server.

On the imvvio.com site, it has indexed almost 800,000 records. It is highy scalable and uses MS SQL Server full-text indexing which is very fast. Also, something that no other module does that we do is, from just the relevance results, we augment it with the sum of user interaction (voting, ratings, comments, bookmarks, etc.). It is truly a social search engine.

Our search modules have been around for a long time. This is not some half baked attempt at search using a bunch of SQL LIKE statements. The technology from Seamus alone has been 6 years in the making. I can also guarantee that you will find no one else in the DNN community who has as much knowledge about search engines as we do. Our modules have tons of features and are integrated heavily with all modules in our subscription. Our modules are definitely intimidating for the novice due to all of the possible features to enable/disable/change, etc. However, with a little of experience and patience, you will quickly find the power and flexibility we provide.

As you can see we answer all post as quickly as possible and provide fixes. As I write this I just got notification that the issue you posted above is already fixed and released....in just a couple hours. Who else in the DNN community provides that level of support???

About the $499. I am really sick of hearing this. I understand that there are a lot of 1 man DNN shops that can sell their modules at sub $100 prices, but that is not the case with Venexus. This is not some part time gig in the evening after the day job. There is a total of 9 of us. We cannot offer our modules with the amount of man hours that have been put in for sub $100 prices you see on Snowcovered. Especially since Snowcovered takes 25% off the top. Also, it is not like you are getting 1 module. You get over 20 modules. We have increased the number of modules we have in our subscription from 9 to over 20 just since the beginning of summer this year. Now, please consider the amount of time I have taken to answer all of your questions and fix an issue you had just in the last 24 hours. Then consider the amount of other queries and questions via forums, email, and phone we get from all of the other people on any given day, just about our modules. You will quickly see that selling something for less than 100 and having to support it with all of its complexity is just not profitable.

As strange as it may seem, it gives back results now, but it didn't before....

To make things clear, I'm not saying your product isn't good,
I absolutely think it does great things, a lot better then the standard dnn engine, since it also indexes word and pdf files, and modules which don't support iSearchable, and all other nice features.

The only thing is that it at least appeared that some things weren't working that well.
So I started asking about them.

And I think it is great that you respond that quick, so a lot of thanks for that.

About the 499 dollars, I really don't mind spending that, if the module works ok, but as I said, it appeared not to be working.

By the way...
- installed the new version
- %20 etc. is gone, so that is good
- when 'Enable AJAX Loading for Results' is enabled I get no results for 'kwaliteit van leven'
- when 'Enable AJAX Loading for Results' is disabled, I do get results, for 'kwaliteit van leven'
- so it appears that when you send it in a querystring (&search=kwaliteit%20van%20leven) it will work, while when using ajax, it does not work
- I still don't understand when the auto suggest feature will kick in
